SORA Training Classes

SORA License - initial

The State of NJ requires registration with the NJSP, completion of 24 hours of instruction with a certified instructor, and fingerprinting.

Initial Classes are held weekly, Tuesday-Thursday during the day, in the evenings, and on select weekends. Classes must be taken 3 consecutive days. Please arrive 30 minutes early on Tuesday to complete registration.

SORA - Renewal & upgrade

Renewal and Upgrade courses are also available with flexible scheduling options, including daytime, evening, and weekend sessions.

If you already have an Unarmed SORA License (Yellow Striped) and are looking to upgrade to an Armed SORA License (Red Striped) choose Upgrade on the Application below.

SORA TRAINING BY CPT SECURITY

Before attending your first class, you will have to complete the following steps:

Step 1 : Complete SORA application below by choosing which license you are applying for and answering the questions.

Step 2: Choose the date(s) of your desired training session. For Initials, training must be taken 3 days in a row.

Step 3: The fee for Initials is $125 and for Renewals is $50. For upgrades from an Unarmed Sora License to an Armed Sora License, the fee is $60. Please note a merchant processing fee will be added for credit card payments.

If you have not registered with the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) and received an APP number, you will need to come in half an hour earlier on the day of your first class so we can assist you with the process. Registration with the NJSP can be completed by going to: eapps.njsp.org/applicant.

If you will be needing assistance with the NJSP registration - please type "need assistance" in the field.
